Bodega Bay - This town is set along the Sonoma County coast. The bay is home to small fishing craft, parks, campgrounds, restaurants and shopping. UC Davis has a marine laboratory on the ocean side. The ten miles of coastline north of bodega bay to the Russian River's mouth at Jenner is all state park property. Visitors can park their cars and walk to the beaches and tide pools as any point.

Cazadero - This is the ruralest of the Russian River area towns. Set back in the hills off of the lower region of the Russian River, visitors come here who want get out into the country without going backpacking or horseback riding.

Duncans Mills - Duncans Mills is a great place to visit. This little town consists of a charming general store, fine restaurants, a candy store, coffee shop and several other attractions including wine and cheese tasting. Once a year the town roars when it hosts the Russian River Rodeo. Duncan's Mills lies in arguably the most beautiful setting.

Forestville - Forestville is the first Russian River area town you will come to after exiting the 101. Forestville is home to several art galleries, wineries, Farm Trails member sites and great restaurants. There is a park for the kids and shopping, dining and coffee shops for the adults. Here you can also rent movies, order pizza, develop photos, or pick up basic camping supplies at the hardware store.

Geyserville - The views from Geyserville are superb. This small town is the equivalent of Duncan's Mills for the lower River. It marks the transition from the valley to the hills.

Gualala - Gualala is set on the bluffs overlooking the pacific ocean and the mouth of the Gualala river and Gualala point regional park. This town serves the needs of the huge Sea Ranch vacation rental community. As a result the town is home to many fine restaurants, cafes and stores. The scenic drive to Gualala along the coast is dotted with parks, lookout points and small towns.

Jenner, CA
 
Jenner - Jenner is set along the Pacific coastline. The transition to the coastal environment begins around Duncan's Mills and completes at the river's last bend before flowing into the ocean (see the picture at the left). Jenner offers fine River and Ocean view dining, great vacation rentals, romantic lodging and unique gift shops. Jenner is a short drive from spectacular cliffs and accessible beaches including Goat Rock State Park.
