The Russian River Resort Area has been a favorite destination for Bay Area residents
and visitors for more than a hundred years.
Now known as one of the world’s most exciting and emerging wine regions,
Western Sonoma County is also well known for its extraordinary farms, cheese makers,
bread bakers, coffee roasters and so much more.
The distinct agricultural mix offers the widest variety of fine food and drink
of any appellation in America.
The Russian River Valley Appellation, formally established in 1983, is one
of the largest in Sonoma County and in the Northern California Wine Country. With
12,000 acres devoted to wine grapes, the appellation includes over 200 winegrowers
and 50 wineries.
Its boundaries roughly follow the low-lying flat plain extending south and
west of Healdsburg, following the Russian River as it turns toward the Pacific
Ocean. The coastal hills at Guerneville mark its western boundary.
While Guerneville is at the heart of the Russian River Resort Community, Monte
Rio is certainly its crossroads.
This year’s location brings our area's finest artisans to a beachfront
meadow right on the banks of the river, surrounded by redwood groves and historic
vacation resorts.
