Fisherman's Festival

The Festival began as a celebration of the opening of the Salmon fishing season. Boats are decorated and parade out of the harbor on Sunday morning, gathering outside the jetties to receive blessings of the fleet by a local clergyman. The festival is packed with music, food and entertainment.

The Occidental Arts & Ecology Center's annual tour begins at 10 am and will run approximately 1.5 hrs in duration. Tour participants will be introduced to the Center's organic gardens, which preserve thousands of varieties of rare and endangered food, medicinal, and ornamental plants. Sturdy shoes, brimmed hat or warm layers (depending on weather), and personal water bottles are recommended. Please note that the terrain is very hilly and unpaved with dirt or gravel paths.  A suggested donation of $10 per person is requested.
