Ten Nature Hikes
1. Armstrong Redwoods

 
• Through old growth redwood forest
• Flat / easy walk
• Dogs can take the road which parallels the trail and is equally beautiful
• Five minutes outside of Guerneville along Armstrong Woods Road
• Picnic tables at end of hike
2. Austin Creek
 
• 1100 foot climb
• Maps available at park
• Start at entrance to Armstrong Redwoods
• Take East Ridge Trail the top
• Cross to Pool Ridge Trail
• Take down to the Redwood Grove [above]
• Walk back to the entrance
3. Kortum Trail

 
• Hike along the Coast
• Starts at Blind Beach (enter the Goat Rock beach entrance just south of Jenner and drive 0.8 miles to the Blind Beach parking lot)
• Approximately 10 miles of trail
• Crosses multiple State Beach parking lots
• Park one car south at the distance you want to hike and carpool back to Blind Beach
• The southernmost exit point is at Carlevaro Way off of Highway One (parking available)
4. Lake Sonoma
 
• Overlooks the lake
• Driving up the hill towards the lake, turn left at Stewart's Point Road, a little ways on your right you will see the South Lake Trail Parking lot
• Pick up a map at the visitor center at the base of the lake (you can't miss it)
• Several other hikes area possible from easy to all day
• Don't miss a visit to the Overlook when you are at Lake Sonoma
5. Bodega Head
 
• Hike at the outermost point of Bodega Bay
• Great for whale watching
• Take East Shore Road off of Highway One, then take a right on Bay Flat Road and continue to the end (3.4 miles from Highway One)
• Stop and pick up live crab at the marina (when in season)
6. Bodega Dunes
 
• Stroll along the beach
• Miles of beach north and south
• Picnic and barbeque facilities
• Located just north of Bodega Bay
• Take a right at the check in station and continue to the beach past the parking lot
7. Pomo Canyon
 
• Environmental Sanctuary
• Take Willow Creek Road off of Highway One
• Drive 3 miles to Pomo Canyon
• Very secluded, private area, you will feel away from everything
8. Willow Creek
 
• Environmental Sanctuary
• Take Willow Creek Road off of Highway One
• Very secluded, private area, you will feel away from everything
9. Fort Ross
 
• 12 miles north of Jenner on Highway One
• Combine hiking along the coast with historical site-seeing
• Guided tours
• Picnic areas
10. Salt Point
 
• 20 miles of trails
• 6000 acres, 6 miles of coast
• 18 miles north of Jenner along Highway One
• Many facilities and activities
