The History of RussianRiverTravel.com

The RussianRiverTravel.com idea was created in 2001 by Tao Klauenburch while doing marketing at River Village Resort & Spa in Guerneville.

As a local of 26 years, Tao knew back then that the area had more to offer than was being shared with visitors. There needed to be a central, trusted website that showed the best of the area, got people excited, and brought in more business.

The site started as a part-time project and began to grow. In 2003 RussianRiverTravel.com became a full-time job going from 12 pages to now over 460 pages while becoming northwest Sonoma County’s primary and most useful resource for visitor’s planning their trips.
